Rutger von Riesling is a very handsome 6 year old German Shepherd. He has the bigger bone structure and straighter back of the German imports.  Rutger is black and cream colored, he is a stunning and a well bred German Shepherd.   Also with his good looks comes the most wonderful temperament.  He was in a family with a 10 month old baby, and he was so good and reliable. The teenagers in the family loved him and he loved them back. He shared the home with a three pound female dog, who used him as a stepping stool to get to the bed. Often she slept curled up next to big Rutger. He was fine with the cats in the family, every once in a while he would give a little chase, but we were told the family was never worried about him and the cats.  Rutger will sleep in a crate if need be, he rides well in the car.  He meets new people coming into the home well. He does have a big deep bark, but is generally quiet. Rutger would be a perfect choice for someone who doesn’t have time to train a dog, if someone wants a chilled and easy going companion, Rutger is perfect. He loves a walk around the block but if you don’t have time for more he is fine. He would be great for a busy family with kids or maybe an older couple who needed an easy to walk, easy going and trained dog.
